My Story

Hello, all. I was explaining the work that I'm doing (or trying to do, I guess) at The 1010 Project to some friends back in Chicago. They were confused. "Aren't you getting a degree in Religion and Politics in the Middle East or something? How did you get involved in a humanitarian organization that works in Kenya?"

I don't really know the answer to that question. I found The 1010 Project through the University of Denver's job/internship board, sent along a resume, and then came in for a meeting. I met Mark and Adam and they were super nice. So we talked. I found myself attached to the grantwriting team, working to build up our donor base so that we can continue to do good things.

I like being a part of The 1010 Project. My thoughts and opinions count and are respected. Even though much of the work is outside my field of expertise, I am learning, and I'm glad that the office is filled with such nice people.

Working Late

So we're entering Hour Eleven here at the office working on the website redesign. Gobs of new content, new ways to interact, and better ways of seeing exactly what it is that we're up to at The 1010 Project. We'll let you all know when things are ready to go, and we'll undoubtedly need feedback (positive criticisms, please!) so we can fine-tune the whole thing.

Oh man! Ngumo ye Rudo is downstairs right now warming up. They are beating those drums and making the marimbas sing!

We are working very hard in these last few hours, but it's going to be a great show!

Oh, it's coming up! RockAfrica is going to be a great advocacy event for us and the Elias Fund. In a week's time, we're going to host Hearts of Palm and Ngumo ye Rudo here at the office.

I'm really looking forward to it. We're trying out a whole bunch of new media techniques to expand our reach for this event, and we really hope it'll pay off. So watch this space!
