Hey Mann,
Ireland is treating me pretty well, crazy that it will be a full year in November. Honestly ready for our next move but we are working on finances and other obligations here, so until then Dublin is where its at.
This is sweet Social Network you got going. I continue to be impressed by the creative outlets you guys are implementing over there. Looking good bro.
Let me know if there is anything you need from last years silent auction set up or if I can help remotely this year at all.
Cheers from Dublin

My Story

Following Tim's example, this is how I have chosen to Join the Story.

In 2005, I was motivated to start a publication called Transparent. This publication focused precisely on the promotion of awareness and understanding about our global community. We saw this accomplished through article writing and photography.

Then, in the fall of 2006, Andrew Syed (founder of The 1010 Project) asked me if Transparent could be a part of the advocacy of The 1010 Project. Through deliberation and some strategizing, I agreed.

I was hired on full-time as the Director of Communications in the Spring of 2008 after almost a year and a half of being an intern with 1010. My journey is long and definitely went through an evolution, but I encourage everyone to Join the Story and begin to change lives.

The Week Ahead

The next week provides an exciting opportunity for The 1010 Project to hold our first ever benefit concert.

RockAfrica, a Denver community event for our neighbors in Kenya and Zimbabwe, will be on November 14th @ 7 PM. We could use your help in preparing for this event. Visit www.rockafricadenver.com for more information.

We are building relationships with local businesses and artists that we hope will continue into 2009. Immediately following RockAfrica, we will be holding an After Party at t… Continue

We Want You!

RockAfrica is just a couple weeks away and we want you! We are going to need a small army of volunteers to help out on November 14th and want you to lend us your time. This is one of the final 1010 events of 2008 and we are expecting around 300 people to attend.

Popular Denver band, Hearts of Palm (formerly Nathan and Stephen), and friends of the Elias Fund, Ngumo ye Rudo, will be joining us for an this event that will bring together the Denver community for an evening of advocacy, action, and… Continue

A friend and connection

So in the chaos of preparing for this year's Benefit Dinner, I have managed to schedule two more very exciting events. We will be having two movie nights, one at DU and one at CCU. Since Michael Nyangi will be in town this Sunday, we wanted to give him the opportunity to speak with as many students and people as we could possibly manage. Check the events page for details to these movie nights.

I am exhausted, this has been a busy week already and it is only going to get worse. However, it makes… Continue

Through inspiration from our friends

Last night we had the opportunity to host over 25 individuals at our second showing of One + One: A Human Network. If you are not aware of this film, I invite you to pay attention. This film is the hard work of many people dedicated to the work of 1010. Directed by Sid McGregor, the film is a collaboration of the Electronic Arts program at Missouri State University. After nearly a year and a half, we have the finished product and couldn't be more happy with it.

This is just one example of how p… Continue

To be a volunteer

I woke up around 6:30 AM on Sunday morning after catching about six solid hours of sleep. The plan was to meet seven other volunteers at Market and 21st to help out with the 5K/10K at Oktoberfest. We spent two hours registering people for this race, we enjoyed being a part of this high energy crowd. Through this opportunity we raised $150 for 1010. This is my first blog post, the beginning of me telling others how I have joined the story of The 1010 Project.

There will be other developing ways… Continue
